Shine Kerry is delivering a Recovery and the Family programme in partnership with the Kerry mental health services and Community Development Project. It is a very exciting recovery programme co-produced by Shine and a team of people with years of experience of recovery, personally and professionally. The focus of all elements of this educational course is towards supporting recovery.
SHINE wants to take every opportunity to encourage and support relatives to participate in the process of recovery. The benefits for everyone concerned are enormous.
The overall purpose of the course is to engage with relatives and friends of people with mental health difficulties to support their recovery journey.
1. To meet family members’ and friends’ needs for information in a structured way.
2. To explore the journey of recovery for relatives and friends of people with mental health difficulties.
3. To provide an environment for relatives and friends to meet others with a shared experience in order to reduce isolation and stigma.
4. To promote and encourage participants towards ownership of their own recovery needs.
Each group session is designed to stimulate discussion between group members about their experiences and focus on solutions.
