For me, getting active and out in the fresh air fills me with a sense of calm, purpose and allows stress to dissipate.

Challenging myself to compete in races and events gives me long-term motivation, but training on a day to day basis is a huge mood lifter!

Also, having joined an athletics club means I have met many like-minded people who I can now call friends!
